In August, Lithuanian Airports reached a new all-time record – 706.7 thousand passengers chose to travel through Vilnius, Kaunas, and Palanga airports. The previous monthly passenger record was set just this July. Compared to August 2024, all three airports — Vilnius, Kaunas, and Palanga — served more passengers.

“For the first time in the history of Lithuanian Airports, the total number of monthly passengers has surpassed the symbolic threshold of 700 thousand. Looking at the latest results, we believe that this year will end with a total of 7 million passengers. What is important for us is that while reaching such milestones, the quality of passenger experience remains intact. That is why both we and our partners in this field are putting a lot of effort into maintaining it,” said Simonas Bartkus, CEO of Lithuanian Airports (LTOU).

The growing passenger flow reflects actively developing partnerships with airlines and the increasing capacity of airports, driven by successfully implemented infrastructure development projects. For Vilnius Airport, this resulted in more than 510 thousand passengers served in a single month – a historic achievement for the country’s largest airport. Kaunas Airport handled 155 thousand passengers in August, while Palanga Airport served 41.6 thousand.

Compared to August 2024, this August saw a 6.7% increase in passengers at Vilnius Airport, a 6.6% increase at Kaunas Airport, and a 3.8% increase at Palanga Airport. Overall, the Lithuanian Airports network recorded a 6.5% growth.

In total, 5,366 flights were served across the Lithuanian Airports network this August, 2.5% more than in August of last year. Vilnius Airport handled 3,838 flights (+2%), Kaunas Airport 1,073 flights (+1.7%), and Palanga Airport 455 flights (+9.6%).

The most popular regular flight routes in August 2025 across the LTOU network by passenger numbers were: London (Luton Airport), Copenhagen (Denmark), Riga (Latvia), London (Stansted Airport), and Warsaw (Poland).

LTOU representatives emphasize that a record number of passengers was recorded not only in August but also when evaluating all three summer months this year.

It is worth noting that, according to data from Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe), Kaunas Airport’s passenger growth during the first half of this year ranked among the five fastest-growing mid-sized airports in Europe. Passenger numbers at Kaunas Airport grew by almost 21% in the first half of 2025.

The progress and breakthrough of Lithuanian Airports are being noticed nationwide. A public opinion survey conducted in Lithuania this year revealed that 9 out of 10 people believe that the quality of air travel in Lithuania has improved over the past year. Among the key factors of progress, people highlighted a reliable variety of flight destinations, convenient flight schedules, and frequency.
