Lufthansa City Airlines and the ver.di union have reached an agreement on a comprehensive collective labor agreement framework for flying personnel. The agreement establishes clear guidelines for cabin and cockpit crew. This collective labor agreement is an important milestone in continuing Lufthansa City Airlines’ success story as its workforce grows.
The majority of Lufthansa City Airlines’ flight crew has chosen ver.di as its union representative. The agreement with ver.di reflects the employees’ wishes regarding the representation of their interests and thus reflects the union’s majority status within the company. “We are very pleased with the successful start to our social partnership with ver.di. This collective labor agreement paves the way for positive development for our employees and provides the planning security we need for our growth and the opportunities that come with it,” emphasizes Peter Albers, Chief Operating Officer of Lufthansa City Airlines.
The agreement provides a stable foundation for continued growth while addressing the economic challenges of the highly competitive European short-haul market. It also enhances the competitiveness of short-haul traffic at the hubs in Munich and Frankfurt am Main.
Comprehensive package with a three-year term
The collective agreement package consists of two key components. The pay agreement includes adjustments to the pay structure, while the framework agreement governs the working conditions for crews. Through negotiations with ver.di, uniform working conditions were established for both flight and cabin crew. This alignment promises greater operational stability, which is in the interest of both passengers and employees.
In addition, the collective labor agreements include provisions on company pension plans and performance-based compensation, among other things. The collective labor agreements will take effect retroactively on April 1, 2026, and will remain in force for three years. The conclusion of the collective labor agreement is subject to approval by the relevant committees.
