IAG Cargo is hoping to capitalise on the addition of extra capacity to the Asia Pacific region as sister companies British Airway and Iberia add flights to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo.
The service between Gatwick and Bangkok will be operated three times per week by British Airways – also part of the IAG Group – utilising a Boeing 787 aircraft.
The first flight is due to take place on October 28.
Meanwhile, the flights to Kuala Lumpur will operate from Heathrow on a daily basis using a Boeing 787 aircraft starting November 10.
Finally, the flights to Tokyo Narita will be operated by IAG’s Iberia from Madrid Barajas Airport three times per week starting on October 27.
The service to Tokyo is returning after a four-year hiatus and will utilise A350 aircraft.
IAG Cargo said it expects the services to prove popular for automotive, engineering, perishable goods and high-tech industries.
The additional capacity comes as the air cargo market enters what is expected to be a busy peak season with space out of Asia at a premium.

“These destinations represent crucial connections for cargo transport and will enable our customers in the Asia Pacific region to tap into our global network via our hubs in London, Madrid, Dublin and Barcelona.”
